CITY CLERK BETH BALL welcomes you to your link to City Government.   Also, the City Clerk’s Office can link you to researching Council Actions, City Regulations, Laws and Policies.  For consultations or extensive research, feel free to contact me.  The City Clerk’s Office is dedicated to meeting the requirements and deadlines prescribed by City, State and Federal law to ensure the proper function of government; to keeping the official records of the City Council; to maintaining up-to-date City Codes; to providing accurate information to citizens and to the City Administration; and to properly managing and executing the official records of the City to ensure the integrity of the records for the citizens and the Courts; to administer the Alcoholic Beverage Ordinance & licensing; to administer the Firemen’s Pension Fund Records and to meet the statutory requirements of the City of Peoria in the most cost effective and efficient manner.  The City Clerk also serves as the the Township Clerk.

Beth Ball

City Clerk Beth Ball has lived in the City of Peoria since 1972.  She was appointed in 1989 to serve as the Chief Deputy City Clerk and was appointed by Mayor Jim Ardis on June 26, 2012, to serve the remainder of the retiring City Clerk’s term, which expired in May 2013.  She ran unopposed in the 2013 and 2017 General Elections for the Office of City Clerk and will serve a four-year term until May 2021.

City Clerk Beth Ball earned her Certifications for Registered Municipal Clerk and for Certified Municipal Clerk in 2006.  She earned the designation of Master Municipal Clerk in 2011 through the Municipal Clerks of Illinois Organization and the University of Illinois in Springfield, Illinois.  She has served on many committees to assist with furthering the education of Clerks in Illinois.  She is active in the local Clerks’ organization, Central Illinois Municipal Clerks Organization (CIMCO), and she has served as the CIMCO President in 2005 -2006.  She received the President’s Award in 2000 and in 2012.

City Clerk Beth Ball worked for several years for a Non-Profit Organization prior to coming to City of Peoria employment and she learned first hand the value of volunteerism.  She has volunteered in the community and for several organizations over the years.  She is honored to serve the citizens of Peoria in her role as City Clerk and she looks forward to many years of continued service.

The mural in the alcove of the Council Chambers, behind the Mayor’s dais, was painted in 1912 by W. Peaco, a traveling artist.  The central figure is Mother Columbia.  She is surrounded by symbols important to Peoria.
