The City of Peoria was incorporated in 1845. The City of Peoria is a home-rule municipality incorporated and organized under the laws of the State of Illinois for the purpose of providing its residents services including, but not limited to: police, fire, public works, recreation, building, planning, zoning and code enforcement. The City employs approximately 610 full time and 55 part time employees, and seasonal employees as needed.

Within 5 business days after receipt of a request, the body must reply either with the copies, an “extension notification” for nor more than 5 additional business days or a denial. Failure to reply is considered a denial.
The extension is available if the request falls into one of the listed categories of section140/3(e) of the Act which include a request in “categorical terms,” one requiring the collection of a substantial number of records, and one which cannot be done within the initial 5 business days without unduly burdening or interfering with the operation of the public body.
