*UPDATED* City Offices to Temporarily Close to the Public Beginning Wednesday, November 18

City Services Will Continue Via Phone and Email — No Public Access to Buildings

 November 13, 2020 (Peoria, IL) Following the recommendations of the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), City offices will temporarily close to the public beginning Wednesday, November 18, 2020. This ensures that the City of Peoria can carry out the needs of municipal government while protecting staff and residents. The public is encouraged to do any necessary in-person business on Monday, November 16 or Tuesday, November 17.  City Hall Hours of operation are from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

City staff will still report to work to handle daily business and requests from the public.  The public will have to contact staff by phone or email.  Departments and contact information may be found http://www.peoriagov.org/government-offices/

Mayor Jim Ardis stated, “Closing City buildings to the public is an important preventative measure to protect our staff while allowing us to continue our services.  We are still available by phone or email to assist your needs.  We thank the public for their understanding.”

The reopening to the public will be dependent on COVID-19 cases in the area.

City Clerk’s OfficeThe Clerk’s Office will still accept Liquor License Applications and Site Approval Applications by mail with their check. Please note: they require notarized signatures, but can obtain those at a later date.  Citizens with questions regarding City Council or Council meeting matters can contact the City Clerk and Staff at 494-8565 or email bball@peoriagov.org     Liquor licensing questions may be referred to tbonds@peoriagov.org

Community Development Department Community Development Department will continue to provide services to the public via phone or email. Community Development staff will conduct field inspections related to development and code enforcement complaints while following CDC guidelines to reduce potential transmission of COVID-19.

Development applications, Building Permit applications, and Zoning applications:

 Code Enforcement requests:

  • Code violation complaints should be submitted. electronically to  PeoriaCares@peoriagov.org or  via phone to (309) 494-2773.
  • General Code Enforcement questions should be submitted electronically to code@peoriagov.org

 Grant Management requests:

  • Communication to the Community Development Grants staff should be submitted electronically to a Grants@peoriagov.org

 Field Inspections (Building Safety Inspectors):

  • Field inspections for ongoing construction can be scheduled by calling the Development Center at (309) 494-8600 between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, or by directly contacting your assigned inspector.

The Treasurer’s Office Until further notice, the city of Peoria Treasurer’s Office will not accept payments in-person. Payments may be remitted:

  • by mail (checks only)
    • to City Hall, 419 Fulton Street, Room 100, Peoria, Illinois, 61602
  • By using the drop box at Fulton Street Entrance (check only)
  • By using the walk-up window on the west side of the building (cash or check only)
  • Online

Payments for the following fees and fines can only be remitted to the Treasurer’s Office through with payment and the associated paperwork:

  • Hotel, restaurant, and amusement taxes
  • Business development district taxes
  • Special service area taxes
  • Retiree insurance payments
  • Monthly parking fees
  • Hood rental fees
  • Motor fuel tax
  • False alarm invoices
  • Work order invoices
  • Board up invoices
  • Demolition invoices
  • Payment plans
  • Ordinance violations
  • Catering fees
  • Garbage fees
  • Building permits
  • Non-owner occupied property registration fees
  • All licenses, except liquor licenses.

In addition to paying with a check and the associated paperwork through the mail, online payment options are available for the following fees and fines: code enforcement citations, the Stormwater Utility Fee, the Public Safety Pension Fee, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) certificates, and parking tickets.

Code enforcement citations can be paid at www.payquicket.com. Stormwater Utility Fees and Public Safety Pension Fees can be paid online at https://peoriastormwater.com/stormwater-utility/ways-to-pay/. EEO certificates and parking tickets can be paid through JetPay by going to www.peoriagov.org.

For sex offender registration or violent offender registration, please visit the Peoria Police Department at 600 SW Adams Street, Peoria, Illinois, 61602. Payments can be made with cash or check.

For liquor licenses, please contact the City Clerk’s office at (309) 494-8565.

For special assessments, please contact Accounts Receivable at (309) 494-8588.
