City Promotes Brandon Blayney to Director of the Emergency Communications Center

The city of Peoria has promoted Brandon Blayney to Director of the Emergency Communications Center.  In this position he will manage a staff of 28 employees, including 6 supervisors and 22 telecommunicators and oversee the 9-1-1 dispatch center.

Mr. Blayney has worked for the city since 2004 when he began as a Public Safety Telecommunicator.  From there he was promoted to Communications Supervisor and Operations Supervisor.  He currently serves on the Peoria County Emergency Telephone Systems Board & is an Adjunct Professor at Illinois Central College.

The ECC connects the community members of Peoria and Peoria County to its Police Fire, and Emergency Medical Services.  As part of the Peoria County 9-1-1 system, the ECC dispatches for the Peoria Police Department, Peoria Fire Department, Peoria County Sheriff’s Department, Chillicothe Fire and Police, Peoria Heights Fire and Police, Advanced Medical Transport, Peoria County’s fire departments, and Peoria County’s ambulance services. ECC staff answered 296,311 phone calls and dispatched 165,810 calls for service in 2021.
