New Road Closure in Western Avenue Reconstruction Project

A road closure and a road reopening are ahead next week in the South Western Avenue reconstruction project. Starting Monday, May 17, West Ann Street will be closed and West Proctor Street will be reopened. The changes are necessary as workers progress on Stage I of the South Western Avenue road reconstruction project.
Progress Report
Stage I is progressing on time and is expected to take all of the 2021 construction season to complete with Stage II to follow in spring 2022. So far workers have addressed storm sewer and water main installations, some sidewalk upgrades and the relocation of utilities. Once complete, nearly one mile of roadway will be improved.
Detours in Place
Drivers should follow the existing detours and note that more intersections could be closed or reopened in the future. Road Closed Ahead signs with barricades are posted at Lincoln and Western avenues and Malone Street at Western Avenue.
Detour signs are posted around the area of Howett Street, Lincoln Avenue, Griswold and Adams streets and Jefferson Avenue. Drivers should take extra caution and consider taking alternative routes when possible. Intermittent road closures can be expected throughout the duration of the project. The public’s patience is appreciated.
