Shawn Sollberger Named Chief of the Peoria Fire Department

August 3, 2022 (Peoria, IL) City Manager Patrick Urich has named Shawn Sollberger as the new Chief of the Peoria Fire Department. Chief Sollberger began his career with the department on April 3, 1998. During that time, he was promoted to Captain, Battalion Chief, Division Chief of Operations, and, on May 15, 2021, named the Assistant Fire Chief. He has served in the capacity of Interim Chief since March 19, 2022, following the retirement of James Bachman. He has been a member of the Dive Team, Haz-Mat Team, and the TRT Team during his tenure with the department.

Chief Sollberger is a graduate of Peoria High School and Illinois Central College, where he received an Associate Degree in Applied Science, Fire Science, and an Associate Degree in Arts and Science. A graduate of Columbia Southern University, he received his Bachelor of Science in Fire Administration and Fire Investigation/Analysis, and he was also a member of the National Honor Society. He has served on numerous state and local committees.

Chief Sollberger and his wife, Angela, have three children. His annual salary is $180,486.
