Code violations found on vehicles and trailers are handled by Code Enforcement Inspectors when a vehicle is parked on private property.
If a vehicle or trailer is parked on public property, such as the street, Code Enforcement will forward the complaint to the Police Department's Parking Enforcement team.
A vehicle is considered inoperable by Code Enforcement if it has:
- A flat tire
- A broken windshield
- An expired State of Illinois registration sticker
- Not moved or demonstrated evidence that it operates
