(PEORIA, IL) Monday, February 6, 2023, at approximately 10:18 p.m. Peoria Police responded to the 200 block of SW Jefferson regarding an Armed Robbery.
When officers arrived, they located an adult female victim who told police she was approached by a male suspect who was armed with a handgun. The victim also told officers that the suspect took some of her personal items and fled the scene. The victim was not injured.
Officers with the assistance of a PPD K-9 conducted a search of the area for the suspect with negative results.
This incident is under investigation. Currently there is no suspect information.

***UPDATE*** February 9, 2023
During the course of the investigation Detectives were able to identify a suspect in this incident as 27-year-old John H. Johnson.
At approximately 4:29 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) located Johnson in the 800 block of N.E. Madison.
Johnson was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Peoria Police Department for interview purposes. Johnson was subsequently arrested for Armed Robbery and transported to the Peoria County Jail.
This incident remains under investigation.
