Due to the highly uncertain forecast for today’s weather, the Peoria Snow Fighters will enter 12-hour, around-the-clock operations beginning at 7 am this morning. We know that an impactful storm will impact our City at some point in time today. However, we don’t know how much and what type of precipitation we will receive.
Forecasts have called for less than an inch of snow to worst-case scenarios of eight-plus inches, and wind gusts as high as 45 mph. Other predictions have Peoria fluctuating between all rain and a rain/snow mixture. Ground and road temperatures are warm and above average and forecasted warm weekend weather will help keep any snow from sticking around.
No matter what this storm throws our way, our snowplow crews will be out and ready to treat the City’s streets and roadways. Our crews will adjust as necessary as we move throughout the day and evening. Whether this storm is primarily rain- or snow-driven, please drive slow and cautiously, and be mindful of our snowplows.
Stay safe and have a great day!
