(PEORIA, IL) Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at approximately 3:22 p.m. members of the Peoria Police Department’s Special Investigations Division (SID) located the vehicle of a wanted suspect with the assistance of License Plate Readers (LPR).
Officers observed the wanted suspect, identified as 22-year-old Dwayne D. Daye, exit the vehicle in the 900 block of W. Howett. Daye was wanted for numerous
weapon related charges and an active warrant.
As officers approached Daye, he fled the area on foot. After a brief foot chase, Daye was apprehended.
While searching Daye, officers located a loaded handgun with an extended magazine on his person.
Daye was transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes and subsequently arrested for Armed Violence, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Aggravated Domestic Battery, Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Aggravated
Unlawful Use of a Weapon, No FOID, Resisting Police, and an Illinois Department of Corrections warrant.
Daye was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
