City Seeks Community Volunteers for Strategic Planning Process
Facilitators will lead discussions, encourage participation, and provide feedback
April 21, 2023 (Peoria, IL) The city of Peoria seeks enthusiastic and committed community members to serve as Community Small Group Facilitators for the upcoming strategic planning process. The strategic planning process, scheduled to begin in June 2023, will aim to identify priorities and result in developing a five-year plan for the city.
Facilitators will play a significant role to ensure the strategic planning process is inclusive, collaborative, and effective. They will work with small groups of community members to facilitate discussions, encourage participation, and gather feedback on key issues and opportunities.
"We are looking for individuals who are passionate about the City and who are committed to working collaboratively with others to support the efforts of the City Council," said Kimberly Richardson, Assistant City Manager. "Facilitators will have the opportunity to contribute to a meaningful process that will shape our organization's work for years to come."
Although previous experience in leading small group discussions could be helpful, it is not necessary for this role. Facilitators must be comfortable working with diverse groups. They must also be available to participate in the two-day community-wide kickoff event on Thursday, June 1, and Friday, June 2, at the Peoria Civic Center.
Interested individuals can visit the city of Peoria website to learn more about the volunteer opportunity, key responsibilities, and requirements to apply. Applications are due by Monday, May 1.
