(PEORIA, IL) Monday, May 1, 2023, at approximately 5:14 a.m. Peoria Police were dispatched to a residence in the 6200 block of N. Devonshire Drive on a report of a male armed with a knife.
Officers forced entry into the residence based upon information someone was being assaulted inside. When officers entered the residence, they located an adult female with
apparent stab wounds and encountered an adult male armed with a knife. The male suspect, identified as 54-year-old Alton J. Russell, ignored officer commands.
Russell was then taken into custody after a conducted energy weapon (Taser) was utilized.
The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Russell was subsequently arrested for Aggravated Domestic Battery. He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
