(PEORIA, IL) Thursday, May 4, 2023, at approximately 1:06 a.m. a Peoria Police Officer was parked in the 4600 block of West War Memorial Drive, when an unknown person discharged a firearm near the officer’s location. The suspect was believed to be a driver in a nearby vehicle. The officer was not injured.
Officers drove toward the vehicle, at which time the driver fled at a high rate of speed.
The
vehicle crashed into an occupied residence in the 4000 block of Creighton Terrace. The suspect fled the scene on foot. The occupants inside the residence were not injured.
A drone and K-9 were utilized during the search for the suspect with negative results.
Officers recovered a firearm and suspected cocaine on scene.
This incident is under investigation. Currently there is no suspect information.
