(PEORIA, IL) Saturday, May 6, 2023, at approximately12:20 p.m. Peoria Police responded to the 3000 block of W. Lincoln on a report of males pointing guns at each other.
When officers arrived, they learned that two adult males in one vehicle pulled into the parking lot of a local business, exited their vehicle, and began to attack an adult male walking out of the business. One of the males produced a handgun and pointed it at the
victim. No shots were fired. The victim suffered minor injuries.
The two male suspects, identified as 19-year-old George D. Lewis and 25-year-old Dayshaun S. Smullin, left the area prior to officers arriving.
A short time later, officers located and stopped the suspect vehicle in the 600 block of S. Western. Both suspects were taken into custody without incident.
During a search of the vehicle officers located a loaded handgun inside.
Lewis was subsequently arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Under 21, Battery, Possession of a Firearm without a Valid FOID card, Aggravated Assault, and Mob Action.
Smullin was arrested for Battery and Mob Action.
Both men were transported to the Peoria County Jail.
