(PEORIA, IL) Thursday, May 18, 2023, at approximately 4:20 p.m. members of the Peoria Police Department’s Special Investigations Division (SID) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1900 block of N. Indiana for a violation.
During the stop officers found probable cause to search the vehicle. Two male subjects inside the vehicle were detained during the search.
While searching the vehicle officers located a handgun inside. The firearm was reported stolen. The driver, a 17-year-old male was transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes. The passenger was released.
The juvenile was subsequently arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of a Handgun Under 21, Possession of a Stolen Handgun and No FOID.
The juvenile was transported to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.
