(PEORIA, IL) Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at approximately 4:54 p.m. Peoria Police responded to the 1900 block of W. Starr St. on a Shot Spotter alert indicating 13 rounds fired. Another Shot Spotter alert in the 1500 block of S. Westmoreland Avenue indicating 12 rounds fired was also received.
When officers arrived at the above locations, they did not locate a victim.
During a search of the area officers located an adult male victim with an apparent gunshot wound in the 1300 block of S. Arago. The victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
Members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Special Investigations Division (SID), Patrol Unit, Neighborhood Services Unit (NSU) and Crime Scene Unit (CSU) responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.
This incident is under investigation. There is currently no suspect information.
