Homicide Update

PPD Incident #22-16608

Previously released by Lieutenant Bryan Sylvester, September 3, 2022

(Peoria, IL) Saturday, September 3, 2022, at approximately 6:24 a.m. Peoria Police responded to a Shot Spotter alert of 12 rounds fired in the 1600 block of West Adrian G Hinton Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim with an apparent gunshot wound. Officers immediately started life-saving measures. AMT and PFD arrived on scene and took over lifesaving measures. AMT transported the victim to a local hospital. The victim was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) and Crime Scene Unit (CSU) responded to the scene and initiated the investigation.

Information regarding the victim, as well as the manner and cause of death, will be released by the Peoria County Coroner.

UPDATE DECEMBER 8, 2022

During the course of the investigation, detectives developed information leading to the identification of a suspect in this incident, Domonicue D. Linwood, 24 years of age.

Thursday, December 8, 2022, members of the Special Investigations Division conducted surveillance on a vehicle in which Linwood was a passenger. At approximately 12:10 pm, in the area of Abington and Jefferson, officers initiated a traffic stop and Linwood was taken into custody without incident.

A handgun with an extended magazine and modified switch was recovered from the vehicle as well as suspected controlled substances.

Linwood was transported to the Peoria Police Criminal Investigations Division for interview purposes and subsequently arrested for the following:

• Armed Robbery

PPD Incident #22-22648

• Home Invasion

• Theft Over – 3 counts

• Motor Vehicle Theft

• Criminal Damage to Property

PPD Incident #22-17195

• Aggravated Discharge

• Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon

• Aggravated Battery

Linwood was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
