(Peoria, IL) Sunday, June 18, 2023, at approximately 12:36 a.m. Peoria Police responded to a Shot Spotter alert of 12 rounds fired in the 800 block of W. McBean Street. Moments later, additional alerts of 12 rounds in the 300 block of South Merriman Street and 4 rounds in the 1300 block of SW Phoenix Drive came in.
Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile male with an apparent gunshot wound to the hand. The victim was transported to a local
hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A second victim, a juvenile male, was located in the 1200 block of SW Saint Martin Drive. The victim had apparent gunshot wounds to the body and was unresponsive.
The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.
Members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) and Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene and initiated the investigation.
Information regarding the victim, as well as the manner and cause of death, will be released by the Peoria County Coroner.
Peoria Police are currently investigating this case.
