[ARCHIVED] 12/21/2022 Upcoming Storm to Delay Trash and Recycling Pickup on Friday, December 23

December 21, 2022 (Peoria, IL) Due to the forecasted blizzard-like conditions, the City of Peoria’s collection and landfill operations will be delayed. GFL will not collect trash or recycling on Friday, December 23. Pick-up will happen on Saturday, December 24.

If your collection day is Friday, set your recycling and trash carts out by 6 am on Saturday.

In addition to Friday’s delay and as a reminder, GFL will not collect recycling or trash the day after Christmas, Monday, December 26. This schedule change will delay service by one day for the remainder of the week.

Due to extra crews and potential delays after the storm, your pick-up time might be different than usual or delayed. To keep your recycling and trash carts from potential damage, residents are reminded to:

Keep their carts out of snow piles.

Keep their carts at the end of their driveway and out of the street.

Make sure their carts are facing toward the street and wheels to the house.

After pick-up, move your containers from the curb or alley within 24 hours. Place them in your garage or alongside your house or garage. Please do not leave containers on the street or sidewalk.

In the event of a missed pickup, residents are asked to move their carts back into their garage or alongside their house or garage and report the missed pickup. Missed pickups can be reported at or by contacting GFL at 309-688-0760 during regular business hours.
