[ARCHIVED] 8/14/23 Aggravated UUW/No FOID/WOF

(PEORIA, IL) Friday, August 11, 2023, at approximately 1:50 p.m. members of the Peoria Police Department’s Special Investigations Division (SID) observed a wanted subject leaving a residence in the 1900 block of W. Proctor with two other subjects. 
Officers also observed the wanted male carrying a black backpack. All three males then got into a vehicle and drove away.
During the course of the investigation officers observed the vehicle pull over and pick up another subject in the 1300 block of S. Griswold. Officers then attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle at Jefferson and Western, but the driver fled at a high rate of speed. Officers did not pursue the vehicle.
A short time later the fleeing vehicle crashed into another vehicle at Starr and Western. The driver of the struck vehicle had minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.
All of the occupants from the fleeing vehicle then fled on foot. Three of the subjects were quickly detained near the crash site.
Officers also located the black backpack that was inside the vehicle near the crash site. Police located a loaded AR-style pistol inside.
Officers detained another subject in the 1900 block of W. Proctor.
All four males were subsequently arrested.
20-year-old Dennis Bailey III was arrested for Aggravated UUW, No FOID, Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, Aggravated Reckless Driving, Obstructing Justice, Resisting Police, and several other traffic violations. He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
21-year-old Sapien S. Moore was arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, No FOID, and Resisting Police. He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
19-year-old Andre D. Whitaker was arrested for Aggravated Domestic Battery, Unlawful Restraint, Criminal Damage to Property, and Resisting Police. He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
A 17-year-old male juvenile was arrested for Resisting Police, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, No FOID, Possession of a Handgun Under 21, and a Warrant on File. He was transported to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.
