The City of Peoria snow fighters are still plowing residential areas with some routes already being completed. The remaining routes will be completed later this evening, but no later than early tomorrow morning.
With the continuation of forecasted high winds through the evening, overnight hours, and tomorrow throughout the day, crews will continue to address open areas that are sustaining high winds causing major drifting on the roadways. No lanes or roads have been shut down due to blowing and drifting.
Crews will continue with 12-hour, around-the-clock operations until all streets have been treated with salt or have been plowed. Adjustments to our strategy could be made as early as tomorrow morning. Any adjustments to our strategy, tomorrow, however, will not impact our efforts in battling the blowing and drifting and keeping the City’s lanes and roads open.
Please continue to drive slowly with extra caution as blowing and drifting snow may cause whiteout conditions.
Stay safe and warm. Happy Holidays!
