(PEORIA, IL) Saturday, January 14, 2023, at approximately 1:22 a.m. Peoria Police Patrol Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the 200 block of N. MacArthur.
As officers attempted to stop the vehicle the driver sped away at a high rate of speed.
A
short time later, Officers located the vehicle a short distance from where they initially attempted to stop it. The driver, identified as 21-year-old Jakari N. Robertson, exited the vehicle, and fled on foot. After a brief chase, officers apprehended Robertson and placed him into custody.
During a search of the suspect, officers located illegal narcotics and a handgun on Robertson’s person. The handgun was found to be a “Ghost Gun”.
Robertson was subsequently arrested for Armed Violence, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Obstruction of Justice, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon, Possession of a Firearm Without a Valid FOID Card, Aggravated Fleeing
and Eluding, Expired Driver’s License, Expired Registration, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, and an Illinois Department of Corrections Warrant.
Robertson was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
