(PEORIA, IL) On January 31, 2023, at approximately 11:20 p.m. Peoria Police responded to the 2100 block of W. Antoinette Street on a report of a stolen motor vehicle that just occurred.
When officers arrived, they located the vehicle’s owner who told police his vehicle was stolen while it was warming up.
Officers immediately put out a description of the vehicle and its last known direction of travel. A short time later, officers located the stolen vehicle traveling eastbound onto Sherman from Western. Officers followed the vehicle at a safe distance until the
vehicle stopped at St. James and University Street. A 12-year-old juvenile and a 14-year-old juvenile fled from the vehicle on foot.
As the juveniles fled from the vehicle, they failed to put the vehicle in park. The vehicle rolled across University Street and came to a complete stop on a curb. No one was injured.
After a brief foot chase both juveniles were apprehended and arrested for Stolen Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Criminal Damage to Property and Obstructing Police.
Both juveniles were transported to the Peoria County Detention Center.
