Occupation: Michelle Hassan is assistant superintendent and executive director of high schools for Peoria Public Schools. She works with district and school administrators, along with community partners, to identify opportunities that lead to continuous school improvement.    


Community Involvement: She is national membership chairwoman of Black Women Educational Leaders.


Education: Chef training certification, Washburne Trade School; bachelor of science, business administration, Chicago State University; master of science, hospitality management, Roosevelt University; master of arts, educational leadership, Concordia University; doctorate of education, leadership, equity and inquiry, Illinois State University; with teacher certification, Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and certificate of advanced study educational leadership, National Louis University


Three things she’s passionate about: Education, reading and building the capacity of educational leaders


Three favorite hobbies: Reading, watching movies and mentoring women to complete their dissertations


Career influence or inspiration: “I am inspired by the unknown and countless people who didn’t know me but fought and even died to end racism and segregation so that I could have a quality education.”
