(PEORIA, IL) On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at approximately 4:37 p.m., Peoria Police responded to ShotSpotter alerts in the 1700 block of S. Lydia Avenue. One alert indicated five rounds fired, and the second indicated three rounds fired.

While officers were en route to the area, two male juveniles were observed near Arago Street, south of Grinnell Street. Upon seeing officers, both subjects fled westbound on foot. A perimeter was immediately established, and a department drone was deployed to assist with the search. Despite these efforts, the individuals were not located.

During the investigation, officers made contact with a male victim behind a residence in the 1600 block of S. Lydia Avenue. The victim reported that he had interrupted an attempted motor vehicle theft when the suspects fled from the vehicle. No one was injured.

Currently, there is no suspect information available.

This investigation remains ongoing.
