Cannabis Businesses

License Required

To ensure compliance with the state law and to promote the safe and responsible operation of cannabis-related businesses, the City of Peoria requires all cannabis establishments within city limits to obtain a City-issued Cannabis Business License.

• Dispensing Organization
• Craft Grower
• Cultivation Center
• Infuser Organization (Infuser)
• Processing Organization (Processor)

License Cap

The City of Peoria limits the number of Cannabis Dispensary licenses to six (6) within city limits.

License Application Requirements:

Applicants must submit the following: 

• Proof of completion and issuance of a Special Use Permit from the Community Development Department authorizing cannabis operations within the City.

• A completed and notarized Cannabis Business License Application.

• Applicant must be 21 years of age or older.

• A valid State ID card or driver’s license for the applicant.

• A floor diagram of the business premises.

• A copy of the issued State of Illinois Cannabis License.

• Proof of good standing with the State of Illinois for both the business and any underlying entity.

• Business records identifying individuals with management authority.

 License Fees

License fees are based on the number of years the business has been in operation. Fees remain the same after the third year of licensing.
