PATRICK MEACHEM

Peoria Public Schools Safety Officer, Peoria Park District Police Officer

 

Occupation: As a safety officer for Peoria Public Schools, Patrick Meachem guides and mentors young people daily. He is part of a team responsible for providing a safe learning environment for students and staff during school hours and after-school events. As a part-time police officer for Peoria Park District, he patrols parks and other park district properties to protect community safety.

 

Community Involvement: He has coached basketball and football for grade school students and high school freshmen. He has volunteered for a variety of community projects, such as food drives, school supply giveaways, and raising funds for academic scholarships.

 

Education: Bachelor of Arts, criminal justice, University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff; law enforcement certification, University of Illinois Police Training Institute.

 

Three things he’s passionate about: Helping others, education and safety.

 

Three favorite hobbies: Cooking, exercising, and watching movies.

 

Career influence or inspiration: His parents, Phillip and Gloria Meachem, both graduates of Tennessee State University, an historically black university, inspired him not only to go to college, but to go to an HBCU. His decision to major in law enforcement led to his career in law enforcement. Also, his wife, Briggett Carter-Meachem inspires him daily to do more for others.
