TONY CUMMINGS

Occupation: Assistant Fire Chief Tony Cummings oversees more than 170 fire department employees, including the day-to-day activities of firefighters. He was previously division chief of operations for the fire department. He has been a paramedic and served on the hazardous materials team, as battalion chief of emergency medical services, and as the department’s emergency medical services/quality assurance officer.
Community Involvement: He is vice president of the African-American Firefighters Association and a member of Peoria Pit Crew DJs and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. He also recruits potential firefighters in his spare time and on the job.
Education: Associates degree, fire science, Illinois Central College; bachelor of science, fire administration, Western Illinois University; master’s degree, public leadership and administration, Arizona State University
