Career influence or inspiration: Ms. Jamison credits two men who emphasized the importance of treating people respectfully, her father, the late Pastor Liehue Rutherford, and her long-time boss, McFarland A. Bragg II, former CEO and president of Peoria Citizens Committee for Economic Opportunity (PCCEO). During her years at PCCEO, she came to see herself as part of the agency’s and Mr. Bragg’s legacy. She started as a Head Start parent and rose through the ranks to become Mr. Bragg’s executive assistant. He taught her many lessons. “One that sticks out, in particular, was to treat our customers with dignity because, as he would say, you never know what people are going through.”  Her father shared similar lessons when she was growing up. “My Dad taught me to be proud of my heritage, to be humble and to treat others the way you want to be treated. He taught me the benefits of hard work, love of God and love of family.” Additionally, Ms. Jamison sees working for the first woman and first Black mayor as an honor and a privilege. “I have lived in Peoria my entire life and to be part of this historic moment in time is special.”

Inspirational quote: “With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
