2026-2027 Property Registration
Registration Fees
Single Family Property - $75.00
Multi-Family Property - $75.00 for the first unit + $20.00 for each additional unit
Example: Duplex - $75 + $20 = $95 total
Newly Acquired Properties
If the deed transfer date is after October 1, 2025, the registration (or first unit) fee is reduced to $50.00.
Example: Single-Family Property acquired on November 1, 2025 → $50.00 for 2025–2026 + $75.00 for 2026–2027 = $125.00 total
How to Register or Renew

Please allow City staff adequate time to process your registration.
Registrations are processed in the order they are received. Our small team manages nearly 6,000 individual registrations during this period each year, in addition to regular city billing responsibilities. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to process all submissions as efficiently as possible.
Exempt Registration
You may register as exempt if any of the following apply:
You own and live in one unit of a duplex
The property is vacant and for sale (include sale/MLS listing)
The property has a City of Peoria Mothball Permit (include copy)
The property is in probate or estate settlement
The property is occupied by an immediate family member (child, sibling, parent, grandparent)
The property is owner-occupied but temporarily vacant for up to 6 months
Acceptable Proof of Exemption
Driver’s License or State ID
Utility bill, bank statement, or other official mail
Copy of issued Mothball Permit
Legal documentation for probate/estate
MLS or real estate listing for properties for sale
Failure to provide acceptable proof of exemption will result in noncompliance with the registration requirement. This applies to all new and current exempt properties.

Important Registration Reminders
- Always include your property list and/or completed registration form for faster processing.
- Payments submitted without a registration form, property list, or invoice will be returned.
- Properties with unpaid registration fees from previous years will be invoiced, and payment will be required.
- Late Fee: $150.00 per property for registrations and payments received after February 28, 2026.
- Registrations and payments postmarked by or received on or before 2/28/26 are not considered late.
- Unregistered properties are subject to a $300 citation from the Code Enforcement Department.
- Property owners are solely responsible for ensuring all properties are properly registered.
Property Managers
This section is for property managers registering ten (10) or more properties.
Registration Listings for Renewals
We are requesting that property managers submit their lists of renewal properties for review by City staff before payment. Each property on the list should include the following information (if available):
- City-Assigned Registration Number– Helps staff locate the record quickly.
- Property Owner Name and Contact Information – Note: If the owner has changed, a new registration form is required.
- Registered Property Address – Include unit number if applicable (e.g., condominiums).
- Parcel Number – Ensures the correct property record in our system.
- Total Number of Units – Used to calculate the total amount due.
We prefer that the list be submitted as an Excel (.xlsx) or .csv file.

Once your list has been approved, invoices will be issued via email or mail (per your preference) Payment can then be submitted in full according to the invoice details.
