The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) approves or denies requests for variances from the City's Zoning Code for residential, commercial, and industrial properties. A variance is a case-by-case exception to the zoning rules and regulations of the City of Peoria.
For example, a resident who wants to build an 8 foot fence in their back yard would need to apply for a variance from the ZBA.
The ZBA meets quarterly on the 2nd Thursday of the month. Applications for a zoning variance are due one month before the meeting.
Applications must be submitted by the Application Deadline to be reviewed by the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA).
Applications can be mailed or dropped off at City Hall, 419 Fulton Street, Room 203, Peoria, IL 61602 or emailed to the Community Development Department.
