The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) is currently accepting applications for the Urban Shelter Program.
Only local governments are eligible to apply. The City of Peoria is applying on behalf of the Salvation Army Peoria for the construction of a new shelter for individuals experiencing homelessness.
The public comment period is open from Tuesday, June 18th through Tuesday, June 25th. The public hearing will be held on Tuesday, June 25th. The public comment period will end at the conclusion of the Public Hearing. Anyone interested in sharing their comments on this application can either attend the Public Hearing or submit a comment via email.
Public Hearing
A public hearing will be conducted on Tuesday, June 25 at 6 pm as part of the Peoria City Council meeting taking place at 419 Fulton Street, Peoria, IL 61602 in City Council Chambers. The purpose of the hearing is to obtain views and opinions from the public on the proposed Urban Shelter Program Grant Application with the Salvation Army Peoria.

Public Comment
The grant application is currently available for public comment until the end of the Public Hearing on June 25. The application is available online below. A hard copy may also be viewed weekdays in City Hall, 419 Fulton Street in the Development Center, Room 203.
