Artist Statement
A tree limb is frozen in the midst of transforming into a human hand, wherein lies a glowing bundle of leaves. The word "sanguine" has a dual meaning: hopefully optimistic or, blood red. Created from mixed technique of acrylic and spray paint, this painting set against a dark red background represents how we must listen to nature during uncertain times and remain hopeful. Nature loves courage.
Biography
I am a quiet artist born and raised in Peoria, Illinois. I am a graduate of the Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts in Normal, Illinois, where I served as an Art Ambassador. I am a founding member of the Peoria Guild of Black Artists, and I have been involved in various artistic organizations throughout Central Illinois. I work with a variety of different mediums, but primarily work with spray paint, a medium I feel in love with as a teenager due to its versatility. My work is inspired by nature and folklore, with a touch of psychedelia.
