Gouache on Paper

Late Summer

Artist Statement

My illustrations often come from things I observe in nature, and bees are one of my favorites. This whimsical botanical illustration featuring the pollinators was painted with gouache on heavyweight watercolor paper. The original has sold.

Biography

My artwork and illustrations depict outdoor experiences and the magic of childhood. When I was young, I lived in a small house on an abandoned orchard in Washburn, IL. I spent my days exploring the boundary between the wild wooded area on the property, and the cultivated garden and orchard that still produced fruit. Those days of being able to observe nature deeply, and use my imagination unhindered, are still at my core.

Today I live with my husband and children in Peoria, IL. We spend our free time hiking and biking all of the area's amazing green spaces. Over the last fourteen years, I have created custom illustrations for clients and sell my work online as well as locally.
