The Death of an American Engine

Artist Statement

When creating this work, I tried to focus on detailing the car's grill as well as the headlights. I used blue tones, grays, and greens to capture the car's neutral colors as best I could. Additionally, I wanted to really capture the correct perspective and angle of the car. I felt compelled to draw the Cadillac because of its interesting history and influence in American popular culture. I named it "The Death of an American Engine" to convey the car's prior immense fame that has slowly died out into simple recognition rather than the utmost praise for its engine's strength.
